28/04/07 West Midlands League Div 1 Hinton 2 v 5 Cresswell
Cresswell hit back with devastating effect following an indifferent last few games. Cresswell totally dominated this game start to finish, a short corner to Carl Morris to flick the ball over two Hinton defenders for Alan Perkins to head home Creswell's first goal on the 20 th minute. But Cresswell paid the price for not putting their many chances away when Hinton equalized with a good cross by Matt Smalley to Jody Dawes to score on the 30 th minute. Cresswell, nearly went ahead when Leon Taylor hit the post, minutes later Taylor went close again with a great passing move with Dave Richards and Carl Morris, and Leon Taylors shot was saved well by Hinton's keeper David Spenser. H.T 1-1 Second half Cresswell scored from the off when Leon Taylor went past two Hinton players to score Cresswell 2 nd but again Hinton came back on the 50 th min and equalized with a free kick by Jody Dawse to Darren Braithwaite who headed home. By now Cresswell were playing some good football and scored their 3 rd which came when a great cross by Adam Sanga to Alan Perkins headed home his 2 nd on the 60 th minute. Cresswell were well on top and scored again, when a good through ball by Carl Morris to Leon Taylor chipping over the Hinton keeper to make it 4-2. Cresswell wrapped up the game on the 80 th min when Richard Joyce's cross to Leon Taylor scored his hat trick to make it 5-2 to Cresswell. |
07/04/2007 West Midlands League Division 1 Cresswell 0 v 5 Darlaston Town An injury hit Cresswell went in to this game with Darlaston and were no match for a very good Darlaston side. On the 10 th minute Ian Newton latched on to a poor clearance by Cresswell to slot home Darlaston's first goal. And Darlaston went 2 up when Newton scored his second when a fine shot went in off the post. Cresswell went into the break having to make three substitutions because of more injuries. Second half Cresswell reorganised and played much better but were still no match for Darlaston and on the 50 th minute Darlaston went 3 up with a goal mouth sramble for John Timmins to slam home. Cresswell's Tim Reynor fired wide on the 55 th minute. On the 80 th minute Anton Johns fired home Darlaston's 4 th and Cresswell's Gareth Davis shot was easily saved by Darlaston's keeper. Darlaston made it 5 when Daniel Arnold brought down the Darlaston player in the box and Neil Knight stepped up to score. Special mention for m/o/m Adam Sanga Next week Cresswell have a free week |
31/03/07 Cresswell Wanderers 2 v 0 Ludlow Town Res Both sides cancelled each other out but on the 40 th minute Cresswell had a clear-cut penalty when Richard Bakewell was brought down in the box, unfortunately the ref did not see it? Second half Cresswell started to get the upper hand and played some good football. On the 55 th minute a superb cross by Richard Bakewell found the head of Leon Taylor to put cresswell1-0 up. Cresswell were well on top with some hard work by Alan Perkins in midfield. On the 65 th minute Ludlow could have snatched a equalizer with Matt Holmes shot well saved by Cresswell keeper Paul Birch. On the 70 th minute Richard Joyce's cross-found Leon Taylor to slam home Cresswell's 2 nd and much deserved 3 points. West Midlands League Div One Darlaston Town 3 v Cresswell Wanderers 0 This top of the table match saw Darlaston coming away with all three points and leapfrogging Creswell into top place. Early pressure by Darlaston resulted in a knock down header in the 5 th minute by Neil Knight resulted in Ant Fellows picking up the pieces to drive home. In the 22 nd minute Fellows grabbed is second with a 25yd left foot unstoppable shot into Cresswells top right hand corner giving Birch no chance. Late pressure in the last 5 minutes of the first half saw Cresswells go close from both Richard Joyce and Leon Taylor. In the 49 th minute Ian Dell went on a solo run beating three Cresswells players before scoring Darlastons 3 rd. Inspirational substitutions for Cresswell added extra dimensions to their attack but to no avail as Darlaston defended resolutely and kept Cresswell at bay with all the spoils going to Darlaston. Next week17th March Cresswell have a free week 24 th March away to Malvern Town Reserves |
03/02/07 West Midlands Division One League Cup first round Ludlow Town Res 3 v Cresswell Wanderers 4 aet Carl Morris and Leon Taylor both scored from the penalty spot in extra time as Cresswell came through a thrilling cup-tie. Shazad Aktar had latched onto a defence-splitting pass from man of the match Adam Sanga to give Cresswell a fifth minute lead. However, two goals either side of half time turned the game in Ludlow's favour and it needed a superb solo strike from Aktar to take the game into extra time. Ludlow regained the lead but it proved short-lived as Morris was brought down in the box and picked himself up to equalise from the resulting penalty. Morris picked up his second booking shortly after but the momentum was still with the ten men and they got a dramatic winner when Taylor earned a penalty, which he converted himself. 30/12/06 Cresswell took control from the start of this game. Jamie Vaughan shot just going wide on the second minute for Cresswell. Stafford's first chance came on the 15 th minute when Matthew Buckham's header just going over the bar. on the 20 th minute Cresswell were awarded a penalty with a handball by Matthew Dockerty. Carl Morris stepped up to score for Cresswell. Cresswell played some superb football on Avery waterlogged pitch, and went 2-0 up when James Dinham passed to Leon Taylor to slot home on the 40 th minute. Two minutes later Stafford's Matthew Buckham's thunderous shot from 20 yards hit the crossbar on the 45 th minute Cresswell sealed the game and scored their 3 rd with a good cross by Carl Morris to James Dinham to score Half time 0 –3 Second half with the rain lashing down both sides played some good football but Cresswell's defence held together and inspired Cresswell to score their 4 th when Leon Taylor shot was saved by Stafford's keeper Paul Burn but rebounded out to Carl Morris to score his second and a massive victory for Cresswell to go top of the table due to Darlaston not playing. 23/12/06 Cresswell played a much-improved Blackheath team on the very 1 st minute Cresswell's Richard Joyce's shot just going wide. Blackheath had a lot of possession of the ball in the first half but very few chances. On the 15 th minute Cresswell's James Dinham shot just wide also Blackheath's Adrian Eveson's header on the 30 th minute was goal bound but for Cresswell's keepers Paul Birch's great save denied him. 0 – 0 at HalfTtime Second half Cresswell started well on the 50 th minute Cresswell had a goal disallowed for off side, 5 minutes later Cresswell's Jamie Vaughan's 25 yard volley was tipped over the bar by Blackheath's keeper Brian Robinson. On the 60 th minute Cresswell scored from a great through ball from Liam Pope to Carl Morris who's shot flew past keeper to score. On the 70 th minute Cresswell scored their 2 nd with a James Dinham's cross to find Leon Taylor to slot the ball in to the back of the net. 5 minutes later Cresswell killed off the game and scored their third with a good move from which Liam Boods pass to Carl Morris to fire home his second of the match to make it 3 – 0. Blackheath's Adrian Evesons shot on the 75 th minute just going wide two minutes later Blackheath's Stuart Hensmans shot was saved by Cresswell's keeper, and on the 90 th minute Blackheath got a consolation goal when they were awarded a penalty and Gareth Meese stepped up to score making it 3 – 1 to Cresswell. Special mention for Carl Morris who ran the game. |

02/12/2006 Cresswell won this scrappy game, but it was Bilbrook who piled on the early pressure and it was Cresswells keeper David Sutton who pulled off a fine save in the 10 th minute Slowly Cresswell came in to the game with Ian Clarke's volley from 25 yards just going over the bar on the 30th 5 minutes later Cresswell had another chance with a good cross by Richard Joyce to Carl Morris who's shot just going wide but the breakthrough came when James Dinhams shot was half saved by Bilbrook keeper Nick Collins but quick thinking by Leon Taylor headed in the rebound on the 39 th minute 0 - 1 halftime Second half Cresswell took control in this scrappy match on the 50 th minute Adam Sanga went close going past two with a shot just going over the bar. On the 65 th minute James Dinham shot was saved by Bilbrooks keeper. Bilbrook also went close on the 75 th minute when Cresswells keeper saved Tom Griffith's shot. But Cresswell killed of Bilbrook in the 89 th minute when a Bilbrook defender headed back to his own keeper but James Dinham was quick to react and got on the end of a loose ball to slot home Cresswells 2 nd to collect a valuable 3 points to stay 2 nd . 29/11/06 A top of the table clash which saw a evenly match first half, It was Cresswell who had the first chance with Leon Taylors goal bound shot blocked by a defender on the 15th minute and Wulfs went close a few minutes later, but Cresswells keeper Paul birch made a superb save. Cresswell should have had the lead when on the half hour Leon Taylor chipped the goal keeper but the ball just went wide 0 – 0 half time in the second half Cresswell came out and took control to play some good football and the break through came when Carl Morris superb 25 yard shot hit the back of the net on the 60th minute. Wulfs went 2 – 0 down 1 minute later when James Dinham scored to seal a superb win for Cresswell and for Cresswell to leap-frog Wulfs into second place |
18/11/06 Cresswell played the price for not taking their chances in a match that was totally dominated by them. In the 15th min Cresswell had a good penalty appeal rejected by the ref. Carl Morris going close in the 30th min. Leon Taylors shot was tipped over the bar by Ludlow keeper Adam marsh on the 35th min, Alan Perkins missed a good chance from close range going over the bar. In the 40th min Robbie Adams went close just going wide and then the killer blow came in the 45 th min when Ludlow's only shot of the first half scored through Matt Hune. |
Cresswell Wanderers struck ten minutes from time to finally see off a much-improved Wolverhampton side. 11/11/06 CRESSWELL WANDERERS 1 WOLVERHAMPTON 0 Both defences were on top in a game of very few chances, with Leon Taylor firing wide for Cresswell and Richard Trow hitting the bar for the visitors. The decisive goal came in the 80th minute when Carl Morris skipped past a player in the box and squared the ball to Taylor to fire home. |
Cresswell boosted their title challenge by edging home in a five-goal derby thriller. 04/11/06 CRESSWELL WANDERERS 3 SPORTING KHALSA 2 Leon Taylor opened the Cresswell account on the half- hour but Nathan Granville levelled with an overhead kick for Khalsa in the 55th minute. Two goals inside three minutes from Carl Morris and Richard Joyce seemed to have Cresswell coasting but Granville then grabbed his second to set up a grandstand finish. |
Cresswell were missing key players but made matters worse by gifting the home side two own goals. 28/10/06 BRIDGENORTH RES 2 CRESSWELL WANDERERS 0 Wanderers' Jamie Vaughan inadvertently put the ball in his own net after a goalmouth scramble in the 30th minute of a scrappy contest. The visitors had a couple of half-chances to get back on level terms after the break, the best falling to Liam Bood. But they knew for certain that it was not going to be their day when Richard Joyce headed past his own keeper as he tried to clear a corner with 20 minutes to go. |
Cresswell went top of the table after coming from a goal down to clinch all three points. 21/10/06 CRESSWELL WANDERERS 2 BRIDGNORTH 1 Bridgenorth started the livelier, although by the time they had opened the scoring, it was completely against the run of play as Cresswell had bossed most of the first half. Wanderers came out fighting after the break and deservedly equalised in the 70th minute after Chris Price had flicked on a Carl Morris corner for Robbie Adams to fire home. A draw looked on the cards for the rest of a scrappy second half but Cresswell's substitutions paid off five minutes from time when Leon Taylor poked home the winner during a goalmouth scramble. |
CRESSWELL WANDERERS 4 MALVERN TOWN RES 2 14/10/06 MALVERN travelled to North Birmingham for the third week running and for the first 20 minutes of this match were blown apart by a rampant home side. Cresswell opened the scoring when a cross-field ball found Carl Morris in acres of space and he drove the ball past keeper Tom Shepherd. The second came as a result of a poor defensive header and Alan Perkins drove home from eight yards, and the third came when Steven Price's attempted shot deflected off defender Tom Ceaney into the net. |
Cresswell were missing a few players but still had too much quality for Blackheath. 7l10/06 BLACKHEATH 0 CRESSWELL WANDERERS 2 It took the visitors just eight minutes to open the scoring, Steven Price superbly controlling Jamie Vaughan's cross and turning a defender before firing home. Price then flicked on a Liam Pope free kick for Richard Joyce to slam home Cresswell's second in the 40th minute. Blackheath came out strong in the second half but the defensive trio of White, Sanga and Pope soaked up all the pressure, and it was Cresswell who had the best chance to score the next goal but David Richards' 25-yarder came back off the crossbar. |
A spirited Cresswell comeback did not result in a win after Stafford snatched an 85th minute equaliser. 30/09/06 CRESSWELL WANDERERS 2 STAFFORD TOWN 2 The home side were off the pace in the first half and fell behind to a Simon Purchase strike just before the break, although it had needed a great save to deny Steven Price at the other end. Cresswell came out fighting after the break and levelled within ten minutes as the Stafford keeper scuffed a clearance as far as Richard Joyce, who returned it with interest. The hosts were now well on top and went ahead through Alex Perkins in the 70th minute but Stafford never gave up and salvaged a point, thanks to Jon Buckham. |
