Throughout 2002 Cresswell Wanderers have worked very hard in submitting an application to the F.A. in order to achieve their top Football Award, 'The FA Community Clubs Award'.

On Thursday 19th December 2002 at a Sportspersons evening with 'Ian St.John held at their home base Cannock Cricket & Hockey Club, the FA award was presented by Mr Dave Ramsbottom (vice chairperson for Staffs FA) and Mr Andy Weston (football development officer for the FA) to representatives from the club.

Cresswell Wanderers are only 1 of 2 clubs out of 12,000 within the Staffs FA area to achieve this prestigious award and 1 of 86 clubs out of 40,000+ clubs in the whole of England.

This award is part of the FA's commitment to develop a network of high quality, multi-team clubs providing a focal point for all those who play, administer and coach community football with excellent playing, training and social facilities these clubs will deliver 'Football for Life' for all ages and abilities.

Cresswell Wanderers are very proud to have been successful in achieving this award. This is a testimony to Cresswell's well developed infrastructure that boys and girls can take their first footballing steps at an early age and then develop over time. This infrastructure is positive, socially inclusive, impactful and educational with links between schools and clubs.

Cresswell Wanderers are based at the 2 million pound multi-sports complex, Cannock Cricket & Hockey Club. There are 20 teams of boys and girls, ranging from U7's to U18's and have over 250 registered players.

All their managers/coaches are trained and qualified to FA standards

Cresswell Wanderers in partnership with the FA will aim to provide everyone with the opportunity to participate in football, through coaching, playing administering and watching.
